But what does this mean?
The first thing we need to do is to acknowledge that no matter how good we think we are, we cannot compare to the glory of God and His righteousness. We can’t do anything to earn a relationship with God, or His love.
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
God wants us to be in His Kingdom, He has given us the gift of eternal life, we can either choose to go to heaven and spend eternity in His presence or we can choose to live in eternal suffering.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
He has made a way for anyone, and everyone to know Him, that way is through believing His Son, Jesus, who’s undeserving death paid the price for us to have eternal life with God.
Romans 10:13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
As a first step to knowing God, wherever you are right now, you can make this prayer:
Thank you God that you love me.
Thank you for sending Your Son Jesus to die in my place.
I want to say how sorry I am for my sin and wrong doing.
Please forgive me, and make me clean of all guilt.
I believe in Jesus and that He rose from death, and is alive today.
Jesus, You are my Lord and Saviour.
Please fill me with your Holy Spirit, so I can live a new life for You.
‘One prayer, it can’t be that simple, can it?!
God loves to answer simple prayers, simple people, simple faith. It’s easier to know God through an honest heart, than an intellectual mind!
Now that you’ve made this response to God’s love, get to know God by building your relationship with Him alongside other believers. We had a brilliant Sunday! Our time in the presence of the Holy Spirit was wonderful and God is taking our church to new levels of worship. Refreshing will come through praise because God anoints music and His anointing is carried on His Word. We must be saturated in worship!
We were honoured to have Apostle Mark Vangundy ministering to us with a timely message that God is doing a new thing - He is bringing us into a new season!
Daniel 2:21:
And He changes the times and the seasons;
He removes kings and raises up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise
And knowledge to those who have understanding.
God is releasing His secrets to the Church to cause us to walk in victory. As He reveals His secrets He reveals His heart. It is God who changes the times and seasons of life. God is changing things - He is going to break open Europe for revival! He is not a respector of persons only a respector of faith. We need to declare that this is a new season, the year of the double harvest – the year of breakthrough. You may feel like you are in the fire but God will bring you out without even the smell of smoke! God is raising up an Elisha generation who will operate in a double portion anointing of God’s power and miracles. Elisha had character, and it takes character to see breakthroughs and the move of God. We also need tenacity and perseverance – it’s a new time, its here and it is time to receive, expect miracles and unusual provision from God.

The OCC is a Missions Church. We have a heart for London, Europe and the World. In the last 2 years alone Pastor Steve has ministered in Fiji, India, Africa, America, Holland and Spain… Seeing many miracles of healing and many people making a first time commitment to Jesus. We desire that everyone in the church has a chance to visit and impact the mission field, to grasp God’s heart for people around the World.
(Mark 16:15-20)
We have links with many churches worldwide and benefit from their Apostolic Leadership. We often visit them to support and complement their ministries, as well as receiving them in the OCC to impart something of what God is doing in their country - to build and encourage His people in London.

Dear all,
Oh what joy to have had the most amazing two weeks of my life ministering once again in my homeland of New Zealand.
Right from the outset God has been so faithful in opening up some amazing opportunities for me to minister in New Zealand and connecting me with some truly awesome servants of God and of all the ministry trips I have had to New Zealand, this was undoubtedly far beyond my expectations, it was simply the best.
It was quite a busy schedule, but it was remarkable how every day seemed to be a day full of divine appointments and surprisingly the 2 weeks went by very quickly as I ministered in Pastor Peter and Bev’s church City Impact Church in Auckland, David and Suzanne’s church Elevate in Auckland, Ps Toby and Anna Collins in Hamilton, Ps Malachi from CMF Fiji and Ps Lee’s church from Korea, also a tremendous pastors conference with about 80 pastors from New Zealand and finally finishing off with Ps Brent Douglas at Encounter in Auckland and then home via Hong Kong.
During this time, the Lord’s anointing was so heavy at times that I was overwhelmed with His presence and a fresh desire to seek Him. All of my meetings had a definite manifest presence of God resulting in salvations, healings and impartation.
God gave me prophetic words in New Zealand that during the next ten years there would be three major moves of God, I felt that God wanted to stir up a second wave of 24/7 365 Davidic worship from New Zealand back to other nations and much of my preaching focussed on stirring a new zeal for New Zealand in the areas of 24/7 intercession, 24/7 worship and of course 24/7 soul winning evangelism. Often the Holy Spirit teaches you as you go along but a real burden has come upon my heart to believe for fresh waves of God’s glory to follow the preaching of His Word. This of course was confirmed by Bill Subritzky who on two occasions spent considerable time praying for me by phone, this was a most significant time. For those who know Bill Subritzky, he has an incredible ministry, and the prophetic words and the ministry he imparted to me will cause me to never be the same again.

I was also able to catch up with many friends and had a significant time with the mayor of Auckland, John Banks, who was an old friend from the days when I ran Tony’s restaurants. It has become apparent to me that although I have been out of the nation for 12 years I am still a New Zealander at heart, I hope to be returning soon and John Banks has offered his help in my bid to obtain a New Zealand passport.
All in all, I am certain that the Lord has given me an assignment for New Zealand and I am coordinating with some of the Pastors for a return visit as many other pastors that I have known from the past with large networks wanted me to minister except there were not enough days.
Significantly I had preached on the waves of God at the Ps conference and prior to leaving I received an invitation to preach in Samoa next year, as I left New Zealand a tsunami wave of destruction hit Samoa. Almost immediately I heard the Holy Spirit say that before God sends His best the devil tries too send his worst. I will definitely be accepting that invitation and look forward to Gods restoration of His glory over Samoa. Pleas pray that I will be able to accept that invitation.
I noticed that there are changes in New Zealand, years ago it was unusual to find large churches but now there is a fresh break through over the nation and I can only see unprecedented growth and favour coming out of New Zealand for the next 10 years, with the purpose of New Zealand releasing back into Europe and other nations anointed missionaries to carry the fresh move of God.
I returned home in time to celebrate my 50th birthday in some style where I was picked up from my home in a massive stretch limo and whisked off to a sumptuous meal. My church has given us a first class ticket on the Eurostar to Paris and 2 nights in a five star hotel and one family have given us an all expenses paid trip to Portugal. All in all turning 50 has been a positive experience. My first Sunday back in Watford, I was carrying a heavy impartational anointing and the glory of the Lord fell.

My family are all well with my wife becoming more and more beautiful each day and with the children all showing signs of growing and developing in their own ways but also growing in their relationships with the Lord.
I am now off to L.A. for a large men’s conference and then down to minister in San Antonio, Texas.
There are clips about my trip to New Zealand trip on our website.
Thank you to every one who has prayed for us.
Steve Maile
Dear all,
This past weekend I was able to be with Alan Woodhouse and the Aylesbury Vale Community Church. Alan is a dear brother who I have been working with for 20 years, when he started his church in Aylesbury with his wife and son they must have had no more than 20-30 people. I can remember going there and stirring the church up for evangelism and preaching in their town centre with one guitar and a microphone. In those early days it was tough work with not much fruit, on one occasion I can remember preaching in a small service and 14 people responded to Gospel that night.
Well, it is amazing what God can do, yesterday, we had a big outreach in the town centre, the church has now grown to more than 200 members with several Church plants, they had a full band, stalls, clowns, games for children, free lamb roast, food and drinks.
It was a wonderful time and of course I had the opportunity to preach the Gospel. Literally hundreds heard the message, 11 people responded directly and I had the joy of praying for half a dozen or more people for divine healing. The first time I preached it must have been convicting one person so much that he pulled the plug out of my microphone, undeterred I continued on and the second time I preached we saw an even greater response. As people joined hands in the street and the power of God literally swept over that place, one woman who was an alcoholic was saved and delivered right there in the street.
My son Danny came with me and took plenty of photos but the most encouraging thing was to see that whenever the Gospel is preached it truly brings freedom and liberty to a city.
Colossians 1:6 which has come to you, as it has also in all the world, and is bringing forth fruit, as it is also among you since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth;
After I had preached the Gospel, the Holy Spirit was just hovering over the place ready to confirm the Word, the whole atmosphere changed, the joy, the singing, the unity amongst Christians and most importantly the lost that were being prayed for and ministered to, and the sick being healed was incredible. In fact for a small moment it was hard to believe this was England which shows that God has not forgotten Europe and he wants a tangible visible expression of Christianity in every town and every city.
We need to pray for Pastors, to open the doors up again for evangelists to come in and to stir up the saints for soul winning and also to lead the saints in the work of sharing the Gospel
Please continue to pray for me and our church family as we continue to minister across the Body of Christ.
Last week the churches in Dubai invited me to go back for a week to preach the Gospel and to also visit Bahrain and Abu Dhabi, I also spoke with a Pastor from Belgium who has five Church plants and would like me to come and do the same there.
Bless you all; please stay in touch, love and blessings

ARCHIVED MESSAGES FROM PASTOR STEVE
RICH FULFILMENT:
Psalm 66:10-12
You have refined us as silver is refined. You brought us into the net; You laid affliction on our backs. You have caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; But You brought us out to rich fulfilment.
Frustration will turn into rich fulfilment as we remain faithful. Failure is never fatal when it becomes the fuel to fertilize your future, as true Fulfilment is the fruition of all your God-dreams. The outworking of this is the fruit of a godly character. The Bible says: better is the end than the beginning.
Whenever God wants to take you and me into a new place in Him, there is always a new price to pay. Sometimes we have to realize when God has called us, there will be seasons of frustration and equally seasons of great fulfilment. The rudder that will steer our lives through these times will be the meat between a sandwich called faithfulness. Remember an inheritance grasped hastily will not be blessed at the end. Therefore, we do well to heed the words of the psalmist David who learnt to behave himself wisely in the Lord.
Lamentations 3:22-23
22 Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.
Psalm 118:5-6
I called on the LORD in distress; The LORD answered me and set me in a broad place. 6 The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?
10 key principles to handle your toughest seasons
1. No matter what season you are in, remember tough times don’t last but tough people do! If you handle the dry season correctly, abundance and overflow follows. (Look at the life of Joseph)
Ecclesiastes 3:1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:
2. A difficult season will always precede a new place of enlargement and promotion. If you respond by not reacting, you will rise to new levels. (Look at the life of David)
Psalm 75:5-6 Do not lift up your horn on high; Do not speak with a stiff neck.’” 6 For exaltation comes neither from the east nor from the west nor from the south. 7 But God is the Judge: He puts down one, and exalts another.
3. You cannot change your seasons; you must process them by holding on to the faithfulness of God. (Look at the life of Job, and claim double for your trouble)
1 Corinthians 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.
4. Champions don’t give up, they always get up. Perseverance produces character. Our toughest seasons teach us to endure hardship. (Look at the life of the Apostle Paul)
Romans 5:2-5 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
5. God’s end purpose in recognizing the season is always rich fulfilment and over flowing abundance. (Look at the life of Esther)
Ephesians 3:20-21 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen
6. Your concept of fulfilment may not be God’s. (Look at the life of Jonah)
Genesis 37:5 Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more.
7. True fulfilment is to stay in the centre of God’s will, and God’s will is not always easy or without pain. A bend is never the end unless you fail to make the turn. (Look at the life of Mary)
Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
8. Make sure your season will turn you better not bitter, when life gives you lemons, turn them into lemonade. (Look at the life of Hannah)
Hebrews 12:15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;
9. God’s final purpose to every season is H.O.P.E.: -Holding -Onto -Promises –Eternal (Look at the life of Abraham)
Romans 4:18 who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.”
10. The seasons will come and go, the goal is to remain humble and you will not crumble! (Look at the life of the Apostle John)
Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?
THE LOVE OF GOD
1 Corinthians 13
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned,[a] but have not love, it profits me nothing. 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. 11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. 13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
We need to raise the bar! In OCC you will find a family – a love nest full of love, glory and the contagiousness of God’s heart. God sets the solitary in family. These fourteen factors of love in first Corinthians lead us into the depths of prayer, the heights of praise and give us a heart that is torn to become the length and breadth of the Gospel!
These are the key factors to learn about angels:
1. They are serving angels sent to bring in the harvest of souls. (Hebrews 1:13-14)
2. They are created by God and not the devil. (Psalm 148)
3. Angels are holy. (Matthew 25)
when we see more of the supernatural we will see more angels. This will become more perceptible to us because God has set eternity in our hearts.
4. Angels are innumerable. (Hebrews 12:22)
5. Angels are wise – they have been sent and commissioned by God.
6. Angels are powerful, they are elect and they respect authority.
7. Angels hare authority from the throne of God.
8. Angels are sexless. (Matthew 22:30)
9. Angels are invisible, they obey God and possess emotions.
10. They are organised in ranks. (Isaiah 6:3)
God has limited Himself to the saints on the earth; Jesus has confidence in us to finish the job! Angels worship around the throne day and night; it is a touch of worship, a glimpse of the light that comes from the cross that shines through us as shareholders and partakers so that your life can represent a life on your knees. We have to allow the love of God to fill our lives because angels are commissioned out of love by the church. Satan is defeated and we are enforcing his defeat on the earth.
ANGELS ON THE JOB (continued)
We often fall into the habit of worrying but we need to learn how to tap into the power of God to overcome anxiousness. We need to go from being a worrier to a warrior! Make sure you pray over your family and children and confess the Word of God over them. Out of your heart will flow the issues of life and we need to be in the Spirit for angels to be released in our ministry and learn how to pray properly. God wants us to pray!
There are five ways that we pray:
1. Persevering prayer
Philippians 4:6
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God
2. Intercessory prayer
Romans 8:26
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us[a] with groanings which cannot be uttered.
3. Pray in the Spirit
1 Corinthians 14:14
For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.
4. Supplication
1 Timothy 2:1-2
1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.
5. Thanksgiving
Philippians 4:6
The two most vulnerable areas are our hearts and minds – the devil can destroy you through your mind so you have to pour the Word of God into your heart and mind more than other things like television and radio. People say that sticks and stones can break your bones but words can never hurt you, but they are wrong. Negative words can kill you because they are curses. The power of prayer is needed to break curses.
Christians need to have stability and what we ask of God needs to be according to His will. You will begin to ask the right thing when you spend more time loving God.
Isaiah 59:1-3
1 Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. 2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.
God will not answer your prayers if they are filled with pride. Simply pray for the will of God to be done in people’s lives because if you have iniquity or unforgiveness in your heart you will not be heard.
ANGELS ON THE JOB
Colossians 3:1-4
1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
Angels are on the job 24/7 and we who are born again are eternal beings. The basic fundamental key for existing on the earth is to connect to the spiritual realm. As spiritual beings our primary concern is to connect with the supernatural. God has set eternity in our hearts and whatever we do down here will affect us in eternity. To operate on these levels we need to separate our hearts to God but at the same time learn the skill of living normally on the earth – this is to be naturally natural and spiritually spiritual. In the midst of normal live God gives you the power to live supernaturally.
1 Timothy 1:8
But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully,
We need to wage a good warfare which is the key to existing normally with the power of the supernatural. We are not called to Christian fatalism (whatever will be will be), but we are called to pray. Satan is defeated and we are enforcing his defeat when we participate in the Great Commission. You have to know your position because that affects your choices; if your mind is fixed on heavenly things you will be a partaker and participator in the divine plan of God. Put more of the Word of God in you to build character and participate in the purposes of God.
God left us with help, we have Jesus the glorified man interceding for us and the angels are there to help us enter the realm of warfare. We are mediators and all of us have a ministry of prayer, just like we should all have pastoral grace and evangelistic hearts. Every revival that happened rested on the shoulders of consecrated people who prayed. Angels minister for those who are heirs of salvation: they encourage, quicken, give courage, protect, lead us to worship and focus on the eternal. We must believe what the Word of God says – not in extremes because one truth taken to an extreme is a deception, we want the power of God and His truth in our lives.
ANGELS ON ASSIGNMENT
Colossians 1:6 AMPLIFIED BIBLE
Which has come to you. Indeed, in the whole world [that Gospel] is bearing fruit and still is growing [a][by its own inherent power], even as it has done among yourselves ever since the day you first heard and came to know and understand the grace of God in truth. [You came to know the grace or undeserved favor of God in reality, deeply and clearly and thoroughly, becoming accurately and intimately acquainted with it.]
We have to ask ourselves whether the gospel preached today is the same that Apostle Paul preached. There is power in the gospel, in prayer, in believing angels are dispatched. Jesus is God revealed in the flesh and in the spiritual realm there are angels and demons. In Matthew 24 the Bible says that the elect will become deceived in the last days - especially if you are unable to discern by the will, work and Word of God. To avoid deception we need clean hands, pure hearts and to be planted in a good Apostolic church. We have to be rooted, grounded and established in Christ-like character. You need to be like this to engage in spiritual warfare – it can be dangerous!
The despatch of angels is the result of a:
Life of worship
Life of warfare
Life of prayer
Life of holiness.
God is working in the unseen realm and we have a key to release angels. They are not there for our selfish desires which are outside the will of God. Angels are angelic servants that go forth primarily for the heirs of salvation. They are also there for the provision and blessing; they open doors, protect and shield believers.
Hebrews 1:14
Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?
They go forth into cities and nations to bring forth salvation. The natural has nothing to do with the supernatural because God is preparing the way! Angels are not to be worshipped, they are servants to the gospel to go forth and bring multitudes to the gospel. They are on assignment to save people – we can not do it alone. We need God! The supernatural activity of God is to get you into a deeper place of prayer and humility so that you can live out the truth, not get puffed up in revelations that are not in the Bible! Our prayers have power once we are rooted in Christ - trust God in the supernatural.
THE POWER OF FASTING
Isaiah 58:5-8
5 Is it a fast that I have chosen, A day for a man to afflict his soul? Is it to bow down his head like a bulrush, And to spread out sackcloth and ashes? Would you call this a fast, And an acceptable day to the LORD? 6 “Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke? 7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh? 8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.
Going through tests does things, most people do not want to fast but we need to live a fasted lifestyle. Man can not live by bread alone. We fast corporately so that we can come into unity as a Church but there are times when we should fast individually also. Do not try to be Jesus when you are fasting – seek God for grace! Make sure that it is the fast that God has chosen. Through fasting we learn to deny ourselves, carry our cross and follow Jesus. Our flesh needs to be under the dominion of our Spirit because the law of sin and death destroys people’s lives. We need to live by the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus. For life begets life and joy begets joy!
2 Corinthians 10:3-5
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ
Know your weapons; these are the weapons of your warfare:
The Blood of Jesus
The Name of Jesus
The Word of God
The Spirits Language – praying in tongues
The Praises of Israel.
Refuse to entertain whatever will affect your destiny! Fasting breaks enticing spirits, doctrines of devils and strongholds of the mind. Strongholds include fear, lust that is out of control, apathy, laziness, the way you dress that does not reflect Jesus. We have to break strongholds and release the power of God that gets people converted. Testify to people about what God had done in your life because that has the greatest impact on people’s lives.
Revelation 12:11
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

We want to grow in God and grow in number with quality men and women of God!
We have planted a church in Brighton (Visit the Brighton Church Website), Oxford (Visit their website), Barcelona and Argentina. We have several cell groups meeting around London and more details can be found at the Sunday meetings.
We are an Oasis in the midst of an Urban Desert!
Have you ever been looking for a new job, or house, and walked in through the door to be met by that assured feeling of this is the one, perfect? That’s how it was for me coming to Oasis City Church in 2004, like a home coming.
Having moved down to London to meet new musicians and further my chances in the music business, I was prompted to call an old friend of my brothers’, James, to see if he could further my opportunities. All I can remember from the conversation was his insistence that I come along to ‘this awesome church.’ I’ve never looked back!
Oasis City Church is definitely the church today for the people of tomorrow. If ever a generation needed guts, heart, leadership, friendship, character, it’s this one. Oasis City Church has been the catalyst in my life for all these things. The sense of family and belonging is hard to describe, but I know that the encouragement and love that I share in this church is a solid foundation for whatever my future holds. Vision for the future is exactly what I’ve found here. Such a sense of purpose and direction.
There are so many things for me to get involved in, from music to football, youth work to missions abroad. I’m more fulfilled than ever, and I’mjust hungry for more. There are so many reasons these days to avoid church. But if God created us and knows everything about us, then His church should be the most real, relevant and exciting place to go in any city. A place for every diversity of person. Oasis City Church is the closest thing I know to this. I invite you to walk through our doors just once, and see what it could mean to you.
As a woman I was desperate to be loved and appreciated. A desire for this took me into a string of destructive relationships with men. Each relationship I entered into became more and more unsatisfying, leaving me with no respect for myself or men.
Six years ago visiting a dear friend, I was introduced to a young lady who introduced me to Jesus. She spent a whole year preaching the gospel to me until I decided to go to church. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away, behold all things have become new!”. I can honestly say that this scripture has become real to me.
My life has completely turned around. I know now that everything I need is in Christ. God is now restoring in my life all the things that the devil has stolen from me: Joy, Peace, Womanhood… I cannot imagine my life without my Wonderful Jesus, because of Him I have a brand new life in Jesus!
As an unbeliever I thought I was a pretty good person. I was married to a lovely lady whom I met at university. I had a secure job as a school teacher and owned my own home. I became the British and world natural bodybuilding champion and achieved professional status in the sport. However even with all this I felt depressed in my heart, I would wake up each morning wanting to stay in bed and not face the world. I hated the state of the world and felt powerless to change the way things were. I wanted to know my true purpose, I knew there was a yearning in my heart to know where I came from and to know where I was headed.
My younger brother had been a Christian for several years and invited me to his local church on a number of occasions. Each time I made an excuse not to go. I had debated with him about religion and thought because I was a ‘good’ person I would go to heaven. I also thought that different religions were different pathways to heaven and God.
One evening my brother called and my wife answered the phone, during the conversation he invited us to his church. After the call my wife asked me if we could go to his church - O.C.C. and I agreed to go. When we got there, we were both warmly welcomed; it was like another world, everyone was so genuinely loving and caring. We both accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and personal saviour that day.
Since becoming a Christian and attending O.C.C. my life has changed radically. The depressed feeling I had went and I have a greater sense of purpose. ‘He who is not content with what he has will not be content with what he wants.’ Basically true contentment for me came when I received Jesus into my life. Even though I had a beautiful wife, nice car and good job (not to mention I was the British Natural Bodybuilding champion) I was still not content. I believe that there is a God shaped hole in our hearts that can only be filled by God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In the bible, 1 Timothy 6:6, tells us that Godliness with contentment is great gain. I believe that true contentment comes only with having a relationship with the Living God.
O.C.C. is a true church family. The teaching at O.C.C. has helped me to develop my relationship with God, I am beginning to understand what true love is. Before becoming a Christian I lusted my wife, I now love her. No one can know true love if you do not know God. 1 John 4:8, tells us that God is Love. God loves everyone and wants to have a relationship with everyone which is why He gave His only begotten son to die on a cross for us all - John 3:16. I thought all religions were a pathway to God, I now know in my heart that Jesus is the only way we can get to God and heaven - John 14:6.
I was brought up in a Christian home, and was taken to Sunday school from a young age, but I could never understand what made the adults ‘endure’ a Sunday morning church service when there were so many other more fun things to be doing. As soon as I was old enough I stopped going…
Although I always believed in God, it wasn’t until I was 17 when I heard about the power of the Holy Spirit and the fact that you could have a personal relationship with Jesus, and that He is still performing miracles today. When I realised that EVERYTHING changed. I now have a peace that I know that God is in control of my life and a joy of living with Him everyday. I have witnessed and experienced many miracles since which I cannot explain with science. There are still ups and downs but I am no longer living for myself but Him.
I joined O.C.C. in 2001, and was amazed at the Pastor’s anointing to Preach. I am challenged week after week, and I wouldn’t change that for the world. God has done so much in my life since being a part of this ministry, and I am excited about what is ahead!
I was taken along to Sunday school from a young age, but when I was given the opportunity to choose for myself I saw it all as boring and irrelevant. I still believed in God and liked to call myself a ‘Christian’, however my life didn’t reflect this and it was definitely a life of compromise. I chose to believe the parts of the Bible that I liked, and ignored the parts that challenged me! I used to defend the Christian faith, and people used to call me a hypocrite because I said one thing and did another - how right they were!
At 18 I left home for University and I found myself drifting further and further away from God. It was only when I came up against some frightening situations that I found myself searching for more to life. With an emptiness and loneliness that I was denying I gradually began to talk to God again, but I had a stubborn heart and refused to change my lifestyle and surrender to God. I thought He was a kill-joy and was angry with me so why would I want to follow an angry God?!
After 3 years I moved to London and a close friend invited me to go to Church. I kept making excuses until one day she asked me if I was frightened to go because it would mean changing my lifestyle and making some big decisions that I wasn’t willing to face! It was like a knife was pushed through my heart as that was exactly my situation! The next week I agreed to go to a cell group - a small group of people from the Church meeting in someone’s home during the week. (The leader of this group later became my husband!) As soon as I walked through the door I felt the love of Jesus, not the angry God I had conjured up in my head. I started to cry, releasing tears from years of loneliness and anxiety. That night I had an encounter with the Holy Spirit that was more real to me than the people around me!! I could no longer ignore the call that God was making on my life.
The next Sunday I went to O.C.C. and felt like I had walked into my ‘home’. I gave my heart to the Lord Jesus Christ that morning…and I have never been the same since! My language changed, my lifestyle changed, the desires of my heart changed and I can honestly say it is the best decision I have ever made!
As time goes on I can feel the reality and presence of the Lord in my life stronger every day and I am amazed at what He’s doing in my life. O.C.C. is like my second home and my second family! God is there - it’s a part of His worldwide Church! God has used Pastor Steve & Karina as an abundant blessing in my life and my growth in the things of God and the non-compromising stance that O.C.C. takes is a tribute to the Spirit of God and how real He is!
I can’t thank the Lord enough for not leaving me where I was…but taking me onward and upward in Him, forgiving me of my sins and having a plan for my future that’s full of hope! Surrendering to Jesus is the best thing anyone can ever do! ‘If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved’ Romans 10:9.
Coming soon …
My life before I became a Christian was full of pride, pride and more pride. Everything came easily – money, girls, work and anything else I fancied YET I still was not happy because I was never content with what I had – UNTIL the beginning of 1999.
Whilst on a contract with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford Upon Avon, I heard Pastor Steve Maile preaching and he spoke right into my heart. Right there and then I knew I had to change my way of life. I gave my life to Christ the last Sunday in August 1999.
More has happened in my life over the past few years than ever before. I now feel a strong sense of belonging to my Church, my Church family, and my Heavenly Father. - Now my wife Catharine is the greatest blessing in my life to date. Oasis City Church has challenged me to become more of a man and leader - which when lived according to Biblical standards isn’t easy. I am stretched and tested every week! Before O.C.C. I would never have considered full-time ministry. Now I am patiently excited in the prospect of one day serving God full time with my wife!
Like thousands of people in England, I have been a ‘Christian’ in name for as long as I can remember. If an official asked me for my religion I would say Christian. If asked to swear an oath, I would elect to swear on the Bible. In truth, by the time I had come to the end of university, the only belief I would have firmly defended would have been the notion of a Supreme Being - God, if you will - who had created the universe. After all, the scientists couldn’t account for how it had all started, they couldn’t create or explain creation, but they could, it seemed, account for everything else.
Besides, I was a successful law student, heading for a lucrative career. I had come a long way on my own talents. Ahead of me was a lifetime of achievement and acquisition. I was going to have a wonderful life, filled with lovely experiences and expensive things. The churches of England were places where I had listened to and sung beautiful choral music, but I hadn’t found answers to life’s questions there. I already knew that Christianity in truth was a relationship with a living God, not a ‘religion’ in the sense of a man-made set of precepts, ideals and ceremonies. But I wasn’t about to ‘follow Jesus’, that, surely, meant giving away everything I had and becoming a preacher, cleric, or general do-gooder of some sort. Why would I give up everything for a god I wasn’t sure about?
At the same time, I was exercised by the big questions of life. What was the meaning of life? Why was I here? Would death be the end? I had studied philosophy along with law, and had been fascinated by the theories of humanity and society put forward by men such as Plato, Hobbes, Kant, Hume and Wittgenstein. I had even developed a theory or two of my own. There was plenty of time, though. I was young, death was a long way off, and I had everything going for me.
I hadn’t actually read anything in the Bible for years. I still look back in amazement at how I completely failed to search for answers there, at how I completely failed to consider even reading it critically, ‘testing’ it.
I had been brought up in a Christian family and, during these later times, my family was praying for me. In the second year of my career, my fiancée and I, through my family, encountered two women and one man of God. We heard of their travels, of their experiences, and of the miracles that they had seen. My wife prayed with one of them, was deeply touched, and in my family’s drawing room knelt and repented of all her sins, confessing Jesus Christ as her Lord. As she knelt in tears I, also, was touched. I knew, deep in my spirit, that Jesus was Lord.
For some months that was it. We had both encountered God, but our busy lives hindered us from getting to know Him better. We ‘looked for a church’, however, no one we asked, however close to us or God they were, ‘pushed’ us towards their church or any other. Then, through a series of ‘coincidences’, we came to O.C.C. We had barely been there 5 minutes before it was powerfully confirmed in our hearts that it was God’s place for us.
We continue to be blessed powerfully by God through his works in O.C.C., the teaching of His Word by the pastors, and through the phenomenal worship and fellowship there. We have learned to put God first, instead of ourselves, and in doing so we have come into a fulfilment and joy that the world cannot give. When you choose to make God your god, instead of yourself, you allow Him to guide you in His perfect will for your life, into the perfect destiny He has for you. My wife and I have not become preachers, clerics or charity workers. God hasn’t told us to become those things. I am still a lawyer, and I still aim to make a fortune. The difference is that it is all under God. As He directs me, I will do. His plan for my life is infinitely better than the hit-and-miss path I would have followed by ‘trying to do the right thing’ without Him. When you truly love someone, you desire to know them intimately, you thirst for their company. So it is with God. His Word says that if we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us (James 4:8). I, like millions of others, have found this to be true. God is no liar; He keeps his promises. It’s exactly as Proverbs 3:5-6 says it is:
‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all of your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.’
Life in God is ‘abundant’ life (John 10:10). It is a life of victory, of needs being met, of problems being solved, of emotional and physical healing, of loving and giving, of supernatural peace and joy. God does not impose His perfect will on anyone. Like everyone, I was created with the complete freedom to choose or deny God’s life for me (see Deuteronomy 30:19). Choosing Him was, and always will be, the greatest thing I ever did.

LEADERS AND FOLLOWERS
THE TRUE MOTIVATIONS OF A LEADER
As leaders we need to take charge. In doing so we must deal with blame-itis!
Genesis 1:16
Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also.
To take charge is to take dominion, to rule and take authority. Leaders are not easy to follow especially if you have problems with:
* Insecurity * Independence
* Instability * Individuality
* Immaturity
Leaders will always lead but weak people cannot follow. Weakness can come from pride, fear, ignorance, laziness and being like other people. But good decisions determine your destiny so we need to make the right decisions.
Matthew 19:15-22
16 Now behold, one came and said to Him, “Good[a] Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?”
17 So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good?[b] No one is good but One, that is, God.[c] But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”
18 He said to Him, “Which ones?”
Jesus said, “ ‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’ 19 ‘Honor your father and your mother,’[d] and, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”[e]
20 The young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept from my youth.[f] What do I still lack?”
21 Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”
22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
The rich young ruler went to the right source; Jesus, he asked the right questions and got the right answer BUT he made the wrong decision. Jesus can turn your wrongs into rights because truth and mercy met at the Cross. To be an example as a leader in purity (being pure and holy) you have to be under strong leadership anointing – otherwise you will fall into sin.
Be faithful in the least
Luke 16:10
He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much.
Leaders need to be faithful in the little things, faithful with money and faithful in what belongs to another. Blame-itis and PLOM’s (poor little old me) means that you blame someone else for the state of your life but say to yourself if it’s got to be it’s up to me! Leadership is the problem and the answer, no leader in the Body of Christ has never been a follower. If you want to lead a church one day you need to get to church today; if you consider yourself an Evangelist you need to go to the church outreach; if you believe for finances do you tithe and offer generously? If you want to be married sow into another couple’s marriage; if you want to lead in a big church can you serve in a little one? If you don’t plan you are planning to fail!
Men are the Head!
As leaders we need to be in daily prayer, daily time with the Lord – the secret to your future is hidden in your daily routine. Whatever you entertain will remain. The man needs to be the head of the wife to make the marriage work. Whenever the husband allows the wife to make spiritual decisions that should be determined by headship they will enter blame-itis and ruin.
1 Peter 3:7
Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.
Men you are to be tough but tender and learn to recognise the inconsequential in life and ignore it. Christ-likeness and manhood are synonymous – men guide, govern and guard. Give honour to your wife, she is to be praised, honoured and esteemed.
There are three rules of leadership:
• Everything is your fault
• Don’t complain about what you allow
• Lead yourself first.
Take dominion over carnality, discouragement and habits!
Think with dignity
Act with integrity
Have character – raise the bar
Walk in a spirit of purity!
LEADERS AND FOLLOWERS
WHY DOES GOD WANT US TO BE LEADERS?
Hebrews 2:1-4
1 Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. 2 For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, 3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, 4 God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?
Why does God want us to be leaders?
He wants us to be people of influence, consider Nelson Mandela, what a great example of a leader, he said to the nation of South Africa “You have chosen me as your leader, now let me lead you”. What a powerful statement! However in God’s kingdom He chooses and anoints His leaders to lead the church. The more you see the weaknesses in your life and your faults the more you recognise the grace of God in your life. Even the most righteous person in the world is as filthy rags compared to God. We need to give importance to the things we have heard from God otherwise we could drift away as this scripture says – this would not be intentional but it happens if you do not take heed.
1 Corinthians 6:2-3
2 Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?
We are training for reigning! If we endure we will reign with Him. We are joint heirs with Christ and if we suffer with Him we shall reign with Him and be glorified with Him.
God said that in Abraham’s seed shall all nations be blessed – we are in that promise. All powers are under Jesus. We will bring blessing to the families of the earth and to do this we need to know the power we have at our disposal. We have to come out of our little world and stop being selfish, and start taking church and the things of God more seriously.
Matt 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
We have to go out as God’s ambassadors and make disciples of the nations and take territory. The expression of God’s Kingdom on the earth comes through the church but it is hindered by spiritual forces and unbelief. Together we need to be in unity and fire the arrows of prayer to make an opening in the heavens so that we have an open heaven over this region. Watford is our Rehoboth – the more arrows we shoot the more we get the windows of heaven open. This takes separation and the setting of boundaries; as man had divided the earth so there are boundaries in heaven. All the nations of the earth will belong to God as He has spoken in His Word, the moment the heavens are opened the Holy Spirit is free to move because the purpose of the church is to be the instrument of the Holy Spirit’s manifestations so that God gets the glory. God wants us to make His world our world and bring heaven down to earth! When we consider the revivals in the past we realise that we need an awakening in Watford! When God’s presence is manifest everyone will worship God. Pastor Steve is leading us so we need to follow by creating an atmosphere and war in the Spirit - we are not here to feel better but to use our faith!
